Iowa GOP Chairman Responds to
Dismal Unemployment Numbers
DES MOINES, Iowa– The Republican Party of Iowa released the following statement from Iowa GOP Chairman A.J. Spiker in response to the latest job figures released by the government today:
“Yet another month of higher unemployment brings more bad news for the millions of Americans who are looking for work. Not only did the official unemployment rate increase to 8.3 percent in the month of July, we are still seeing millions of American workers who have simply given up looking for work. Indeed, 8.3 doesn’t tell the whole story. If the labor participation rate was the same as when President Obama took office, the official unemployment rate today would be over 10 percent.
“This President has been nothing but disastrous for American workers and the middle class. Iowans know they deserve better which is why we continue to see Iowans flee the Democratic Party in droves.â€
