Iowa GOP Chairman Responds to
President Obama’s Statement on Taxes
DES MOINES, Iowa– The Republican Party of Iowa today released the following statement from Iowa GOP Chairman A.J. Spiker in response to President Obama’s statement on taxes:
“By saying he wants to extend current tax rates for only one year, President Obama is essentially proposing a huge tax increase on every single American worker in 2014. President Obama’s notion, that allowing hard-working Americans to keep the money they earn somehow costs the government money, is the same type of big government, out-of-touch elitism that resulted in a bloated, overbearing government that is $16 Trillion dollars in debt and counting.
“Iowans, not government bureaucrats, are best able to decide how to spend their hard-earned money. The only way to grow our economy and reduce unemployment is to cut spending, simplify our tax code and reduce regulations on businesses so they can expand and hire American workers.â€
