Strawn Champions Republicans’ Job-Creation Efforts, Draws Stark Contrast with Democrats
Democrats Struggle to Defend Obama’s Failed Economic Policies
DES MOINES – Earlier today, Iowa GOP Matt Chairman championed Iowa Republicans’ efforts to create jobs and restore fiscal sanity to the state budget during a recording of Iowa Public Television’s “Iowa Press.†Appearing with his Democratic counterpart, Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky, Strawn pointed to Republicans at both the state and federal level delivering on campaign promises to reign in runaway spending and limit the size of government in order to provide certainty for job creators within the private sector. Meanwhile, Democrats struggled to defend President Obama’s failed economic policies.
Chairman Strawn issued the comment below at the conclusion of the taping.
“In 2010, voters gave Republicans at the state and federal level a mandate to deliver on their promises of cutting spending and shrinking government in order to clear the way for private sector job-creation. Each day our elected leaders at all levels of government are working to implement common-sense economic policies that will help put Iowans back to work and put our state and country back on track.â€
“Unfortunately, our Democratic counterparts are committed to supporting President Obama’s failed policies. With leadership that continues to lend a tin ear to the concerns of jobless Iowans, it’s hard to blame the 1 in 10 Iowa Democrats who have fled the party since Obama’s inauguration.â€
Iowa Public Television will air the program on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 7pm, Saturday, June 18 at 8:30am, and Sunday, June 19 at 11:30am. Iowa Press is also available online here.
