Iowa GOP Chairman Responds to House
Vote to Hold Attorney General
Eric Holder in Contempt
DES MOINES, Iowa– The Republican Party of Iowa released the following statement from Iowa GOP Chairman A.J. Spiker in response to the US House of Representatives voting to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt:
“President Obama clearly failed to uphold his promise to the American people to run an open, transparent and accountable government.
“Brian Terry is an American citizen who was killed by the actions and policies of his own government. The failed operation Fast and Furious was a tragedy. Attorney General Holder is hiding behind the President and withholding valuable information that would enable Congress and the American people to understand what went wrong and protect innocent American lives. President Obama campaigned on running an open and transparent Administration, but its apparent that that was just another empty promise he made in order to get elected.
“I applaud the United States House of Representatives, including Congressman King and Congressman Latham, for voting to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt. I would also like to thank Senator Grassley for being relentless in his effort to demand answers. Iowans are lucky to have Senator Grassley representing them in the United States Senate, where his efforts to seek the truth and hold the government accountable benefit not just Iowans but all Americans.â€
